What’s new in standardization in the DIN NVBF Standards Committee for Event Technology, Image and Film and in CEN/TC 433 Entertainment Technology?

Andreas Bickel (BACKSTAGE ENGINEERING)
Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Andreas Bickel tests and evaluates mechanical equipment for event technology, plans, and advises on holistic solutions.
Before founding BACKSTAGE ENGINEERING, he was a member of the management team at Gerriets GmbH for over six years, where he was responsible for technology, research, and development. After studying theater and event technology at what is now the Berlin University of Technology, he worked for over ten years for stage construction companies such as Bosch Rexroth AG as a stage technology project manager, including for the renovation of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, and later as head of mechanical engineering for stage technology.
Before and during his studies, he gained over 10 years of practical experience at Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. Since 2004, he has been involved in standardization on a voluntary basis. Since 2008, he has served as chairman and since 2017 as chair of national standardization committees of DIN NVBF, and since 2014 as chairman of the European standardization body CEN/TC 433 Entertainment Technology.
