How can theaters in Germany reduce their energy consumption while simultaneously meeting hygiene comfort requirements without investing in costly technical measures? This question is the focus of the roundtable discussion at SHOWTECH 2025. Experts from the theater industry, energy management, and sustainability research will discuss initial findings and results from the ongoing DTHG study to clarify and reduce energy consumption in venues.
The focus is on:
– Analysis and data collection
– Analysis of energy + consumption data
– Achieve comfort with low energy consumption
– Operational optimization of technical systems (air conditioning systems / heat, cooling, electricity)
– Inspection and assessment of the air conditioning, cooling, and heating systems (year of construction and condition)
– Check operational management according to schedule
– Organizational concept for saving energy
– Behavioral changes and employee awareness (training)
– Efficient use of existing technology
– Best practice examples
The DTHG project on energy savings in theaters provides valuable insights and recommendations for action that theaters of all sizes can implement immediately.
The DTHG is supported with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM) and the Federal Arts Administration.
