The automation of stage machinery began approximately 30 years ago. This explains the growing demand for innovations in stage machinery that we are currently observing in Germany and Europe.
While manual and hydraulic systems, as previously installed, can remain operational for decades with proper maintenance and repair, system components of automated stage machinery reach their maximum service life sooner. However, this does not always apply to all components. Sometimes it makes sense to consider and preserve parts of the existing machinery. This is not only financially attractive but also scores points in terms of sustainability.
What other advantages and disadvantages arise from a partial renovation, and what should operators, planners, or manufacturers of machinery consider?
