This interactive station invites visitors to take on the role of a digital avatar. Using Rokoko's motion capture system, body movements are captured in real time and immediately transferred to a virtual character in Unreal Engine 5. The setup is complemented by face capture technology that faithfully reproduces facial expressions and speech movements, creating a lively, believable avatar.
The technology is being used, among other things, in the "Visions – The Virtual Musical 2" project to transform real actors into virtual stage worlds. Motion capture is established in the film and gaming industries, but has so far rarely been used in immersive media such as 6DoF VR or stereoscopic 360° films. In the future, such avatars could be streamed live into virtual spaces or used for hybrid productions—an exciting field of experimentation between performance, technology, and interaction.
