The new building of the Rostock Volkstheater stands out – not for its spectacular architecture, but for its intelligent, practical approach. Instead of an excess of standards and technical concepts, the project follows the idea of a user-oriented theater building: functional, efficient, and cost-conscious.
Especially when it comes to fire protection, the company is deliberately straying from the beaten track. The widespread abandonment of extinguishing systems is just one example of the fundamental reassessment of standards in the interest of sensible, safe, and affordable solutions in public construction.
The current status of the project will be presented at the Showtech Congress, and what can be learned from the Rostock model for future theater buildings will be discussed.
